Why fluoride-free toothpaste?

Fluoride is the most well-researched anti-cavity ingredient. But not everyone wants to use it — due to sensitivity, small children who swallow toothpaste, or simply by choice. Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAp) is widely studied for enamel remineralization and is the most popular alternative in modern toothpastes. It has been used in Japan since the 1980s. Our fluoride-free toothpastes are based precisely on this ingredient.

How to choose

For daily use for adults — choose BOKA in the Ela Mint variant (classic, refreshing mint) or Cinna Mint (an intriguing cinnamon and mint blend). Looking for stronger support? Nano-hydroxyapatite is studied for enamel remineralization and in some studies performs comparably to fluoride, but the evidence is not definitive for every formula. If you are prone to cavities, talk to your dentist about your toothpaste choice.

Is fluoride-free toothpaste good for children?

This is one of the most common reasons for choosing it — small children swallow some of the toothpaste. BOKA Kids has a fluoride-free and SLS-free formula with nano-hydroxyapatite. Use according to the manufacturer's instructions and in an amount appropriate for the child's age.

Which fluoride-free toothpaste has the most hydroxyapatite?

PrevDent nHAp — 15% according to the manufacturer. Ollie Clean Mint — 10%. BOKA does not disclose the concentration.

Are fluoride-free toothpastes SLS-free?

All fluoride-free toothpastes in our selection are also free from SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), which can irritate the mucous membrane in some people (the evidence linking it to canker sores is limited).

Does fluoride-free toothpaste whiten teeth?
