How to choose a mouthwash?

Start with what you feel is missing most after brushing. If classic drugstore mouthwashes sting or dry out your mouth, opt for an alcohol-free version — both PrevDent mouthwashes are exceptionally gentle. Do you wear braces, a retainer, or aligners? Reach for OrthoCare — the same mild base, designed to clean difficult areas around brackets and wires. Remember: mouthwash does not replace toothpaste (you will find hydroxyapatite in PrevDent toothpastes). Its role is to maintain freshness and protect the microbiome between brushings.

Frequently asked questions

Is an alcohol-free mouthwash less effective?

The alcohol in mouthwashes is mainly responsible for the "stinging" sensation, not for the effectiveness of the rinse. Xylitol-based mouthwashes are gentle on the mucous membrane and are suitable for daily, repeated use.

When should I use mouthwash?

After brushing your teeth: 25 ml, rinse for 30 seconds, spit out. At least once a day — if you have braces, it is best to use it after every brushing.

Do PrevDent mouthwashes contain fluoride?
