PARLA — British toothpastes by dentists, in an aluminum tube

PARLA (PÄRLA on the packaging) is a London brand founded by three practicing dentists. It started with plastic-free toothpaste tablets and now makes classic toothpastes too — still in fully recyclable aluminum tubes, under the motto “designed by dentists to be good for you and the planet”. Made in the UK, B Corp certified, with vegan formulas free of SLS, preservatives and artificial colors.

Dentists, not marketing

The brand is led by Dr Rhona Eskander, Dr Simon Chard (President of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry) and Dr Adarsh Thanki of Harley Street — more than 30 years of practice between them. Hence the approach: clinically proven ingredients at standard concentrations (1450 ppm fluoride in all three toothpastes), no “miracle” additives and no greenwashing.

Three toothpastes, three needs

  • Enamel Protect — everyday enamel protection: 1450 ppm fluoride, xylitol, kaolin and mineral polishing ingredients.
  • Pro Whitening — 5% hydroxyapatite with fluoride, vitamins B12 and E; brightening by smoothing the enamel, without peroxides or charcoal.
  • Bio Balance — Lactobacillus Ferment (heat-treated, no refrigeration needed), xylitol and fluoride; a toothpaste with no added antibacterial ingredients, made with the oral microbiome and gums in mind.

No SLS, no plastic

The foam comes from coconut-derived cocamidopropyl betaine instead of SLS. The flavor comes from mint oils (corn mint, spearmint and peppermint) and stevia — no artificial flavors. The tube is aluminum: once empty, it goes in the metal recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Do PARLA toothpastes contain fluoride?

Yes, all three contain 1450 ppm fluoride (sodium monofluorophosphate). The manufacturer indicates use from age 7, for children under adult supervision.

Does Pro Whitening contain nano-hydroxyapatite?

The ingredient list (INCI) shows hydroxyapatite without the “nano” designation; the manufacturer states a concentration of 5%. It is a different raw material from the nHAp in Ollie or PrevDent toothpastes.

Where do you source PARLA from?
