What does "natural" toothpaste mean

There is no legal definition, so we look at the ingredients. For us, a natural toothpaste is one that avoids SLS, parabens, PEG, titanium dioxide (E171, banned in food in the EU), and artificial colors, and uses xylitol or stevia as sweeteners. It doesn't have to be "herbal" — it just needs an ingredient list that is readable and understandable.

Frequently asked questions

Does natural toothpaste clean just as well?

Yes. Cleaning is done by mild abrasives (silica, calcium carbonate) and brushing, not foam. Natural toothpastes foam less, but they remove plaque just as effectively.

Is natural toothpaste fluoride-free?

Are the toothpastes vegan?

LEBON declares a vegan formula. The INCI list for Ollie contains no ingredients of animal origin. For other brands, please check the ingredients on the product page.

Why does natural toothpaste cost more?

A shorter ingredient list does not mean cheaper: natural flavors, xylitol, and nano-hydroxyapatite cost many times more than their synthetic counterparts, and production scales are smaller. A 75 ml tube of LEBON lasts for about a month.
